Why use an ACSP

GOV.UK One Login vs VerifyDirector

GOV.UK One Login works for UK nationals with a chip-enabled passport and a UK address. For everyone else — overseas directors, non-UK nationals, and international PSCs — it consistently fails.

KEY BENEFITS

Why Verify Through an ACSP

Using an ACSP means you can verify from anywhere in the world — without GOV.UK One Login, a UK phone number, or a Post Office visit.

Verify from Any Country

No UK address, UK phone number, or Post Office visit required. We verify you remotely using your passport and address document — wherever you are in the world.

No GOV.UK One Login Required

GOV.UK One Login does not work well for non-UK residents. As an authorised ACSP, we verify your identity and submit the Personal Code application on your behalf.

Directors and PSCs Both Covered

Directors and PSCs each have a separate legal obligation to verify. We handle both — reviewing your documents and ensuring your Personal Code is correctly linked to your role.

Verify Before You Incorporate

If you are forming a new company, directors must verify first. We get you your Personal Code before incorporation so there are no delays on filing day.

Confirmation Statement Ready

Every director must include their Personal Code in the company's next Confirmation Statement. Verify now so you are not scrambling before the annual deadline.

Avoid Fines and Legal Risk

Failing to verify on time is a criminal offence. You risk fines, prosecution, and being prevented from acting as a director or registering new companies with Companies House.

WE'VE GOT ANSWERS

Frequently asked questions

Key answers about identity verification, the Personal Code, and how an ACSP can help.

If you are a director, a PSC (person with significant control), a company secretary who files on behalf of a company, or an officer of an overseas company registered in the UK — you are legally required to verify. In most cases, you only need to do this once.
A Personal Code is the unique identifier you receive after your identity is verified. You must provide it when being appointed as a director, when a PSC registers, and in your company's Confirmation Statement. Without it, Companies House will not accept filings or appointments.
An Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) is a business registered with Companies House and a UK Anti-Money Laundering supervisory body. An ACSP can verify your identity using approved documents and submit your Personal Code application on your behalf — without you needing a GOV.UK One Login.
Yes — this is the main reason to use an ACSP. GOV.UK One Login requires a UK phone number or in-person visit. An ACSP can verify you remotely using passport and address documents, from any country in the world.
Failing to verify is a criminal offence. You risk prosecution, fines, and being barred from acting as a director or PSC. Companies House can also reject incorporation filings and Confirmation Statements if Personal Codes are missing.
You provide it at director appointment, when registering as a PSC (within 14 days), and in your company's Confirmation Statement. Keep it secure — only share it with the person or agent filing on your behalf.
Yes. The requirement applies to everyone currently acting as a director or PSC, not just new appointments. If you have not yet verified, you need to do so before your company's next Confirmation Statement deadline.
A passport (or national identity card) and one proof of address document — such as a utility bill or bank statement. That is all. We review your documents before submission to make sure they meet Companies House requirements.
